Harvey Milk Street in Portland - done! Honored to join Portland leaders including Governor Barbara Roberts in testifying before the City of Portland hearing fast-tracking a unanimous vote renaming Stark Street to Milk to coincide with this Sunday’s Pride Parade. Mayor Ted Wheeler said Uncle Harvey is "one of the country’s most inspirational heroes and that this sends a signal globally that Portland is an open, welcoming and an inclusive community.” Thanks to all who worked so hard and Terry, Matt, and Stacy for their leadership!

It's gonna be awesome when control of the Senate comes down to a dozen hanging chads, Russian hacker

It's gonna be awesome when control of the Senate comes down to a dozen hanging chads, Russian hacker/assassins, and a wood chipper in Fargo, North Dakota. Get the Coen brothers, Frances McDormand, WilliamH Macy, Steve Buscemi, the Mooch, & Roger Stone together ASAP for a sequel. I'm sure Al Franken has some time, and he's just a short ride over from Minnersoter.

Senate voted yes on cloture, 51-49

Senate voted yes on cloture, 51-49. But yes on cloture does NOT equal yes on confirmation. Sen. Lisa Murkowski's NO on cloture is big. That's basically a locked-in no vote from a key Republican. But the other yes votes for cloture are not done deals. Manchin, Collins, and Flake voted yes on cloture, but we don't know their confirmation vote. Collins will reveal her vote at 3 pm. And Manchin will avoid being the deciding 50th vote. So either Collins OR Flake voting no probably sinks Kavanaugh's confirmation. Cloture is only procedural. It used to be common for a Senator to vote yes on cloture...

Many of my friends have been worried that the Supreme Court's upcoming double jeopardy case (Gamble)

Many of my friends have been worried that the Supreme Court's upcoming double jeopardy case (Gamble) would allow Trump to pardon his way out of trouble. It won't. So don't fear it. Embrace it. 1. Mueller has already strategized around state double jeopardy rules, and already has major cooperation that pardons wouldn't stop. 2. Don't let the Trump investigation blind us to the broader social danger of too many prosecutions and incarcerations. Progressives, let's think long term and big picture. My new Slate piece with Teri Kanefield

Here's a grand compromise proposal: 1

Here's a grand compromise proposal: 1. Withdraw Kavanaugh, allow him to return in peace to the DC Circuit. 2. Trump gets new nominee, Dems promise not to obstruct with procedural moves to shut down Senate up to Jan.3. 3. Congress investigates Ford leak, and punishes whomever leaked letter. 4. Dems promise to keep Court at 9 seats through 2025. 5. No more judges get confirmed for 2 years. 6. GOP passes bill protecting special counsel from firing and giving him full independence and funding. (So far, my lefty friends hate it. Conservatives? If you hate it, too, it must be a fair proposal!)...

I am a straight white male from Bethesda with an education similar to Kavanaugh’s. I also have a 12-year-old daughter. I woke up today worried about her future in this country, not mine. And I find the suggestion that I should put my interests above hers morally reprehensible.

Down 0-2

Down 0-2..smh ...Boston is just a bit too athletic for the Sixers...Simmons had a bad game but its hard to beat good, athletic teams like the Celtics with guys like Saric, Bellineli, Ersan...and depending on Reddick to be a primary scorer...he's a bench guy... Also Fultz should be playing! He can create and give you some drives to the rim...Boston has no real shot blocking...give Fultz a chance man
